ResumoSoccer is a sport of great popularity throughout the world and the most practiced in Brazil featuring a large number and variety of injuries. The objective of this research was the investigation of musculoskeletal injuries found in the players of the teams of professional soccer of the Ponte Preta Athletic Association of Campinas - SP between the months of November to December 2011, making a correlation of the positioning of the athlete in the field. The data of this research were collected through observation of the records of the Physiotherapy Sports Department of the Inter-Clinics College of Jaguariuna (FAJ). The survey consisted of 25 male athletes, aged among 13-18, and muscle injuries were the most frequent followed by bruises and sprains. Regarding to the role of the athlete in the field, the attackers have suffered the highest number of injuries, followed by goalkeepers and sides, respectively. The average number of physiotherapy sessions was 7.65 with clinical improvement and return to activities. It is hoped that these results will help in the survey of injuries resulting from soccer, the essential accompaniment of a multidisciplinary team in the treatment of practitioners of this sport is essential.
