Resumo

In this study, it has been attempted to evaluate recent trends of human development in Turkey through comparing her trends with different group of countries and to identify necessary means for attaining higher levels of human development. It has been shown that Turkey is among the countries that have rapid improvements in terms of human development for the last quarter of the twentieth century. However, the comparison with similar developing countries has been indicated that Turkey has not been able to improve its relative position significantly. In addition, improvements in human development area within the country has not been shared equally either among the geographical regions or between the genders besides the various imbalances.
