Resumo

This work on biotechnology examines the enormous potential of novel bioprocess techniques and processes to produce many new products from renewable resources, i.e., biomass. The authors cover conversion strategies (physical, chemical and biological) which are being developed to produce a wide range of products from biomass feedstocks. Improved methods of cultivating biomass materials via biotechnology are discussed and fundamental principles as well as practical applications are addressed. The book includes topics on pretreatment, alcohols, solvents, methane, fatty acids, food products and cellulases.
