Resumo

In Bahia Cumberland, in Robinson Crusoe Istand, is important to study the precipitation regime because the risks of flood and of severe erosion are high. The two most relevant characteristics are the intensity and irregularity of the precipitation. The average annual precipitation (1960-1994) was 1023.7 mm, with seventy six percent jalling between 290.3 mm in 24 hours and 265.0 mm in 12 hours. On seven occasions it rained more than 100 mm in a day, including twice in one year.
