As alteracoes ocorridas em uma bacia hidrografica podem ser avaliadas atraves do monitoramento da qualidade da agua. O uso e a ocupacao do solo exercem influencia marcante no escoamento superficial e aporte de sedimentos no leito dos mananciais, podendo alterar a qualidade e a disponibilidade da agua. Com isso, objetivou-se, com o presente trabalho, verificar a influencia do uso e ocupacao do solo sobre os corregos Ipuita, Caarapo, Saiju e Sao Domingos, situados no municipio de Caarapo, MS. Para constatar essa influencia, foram utilizadas ferramentas de gestao ambiental, o Indice de Qualidade da Agua (IQA) e analise estatistica multivariada (Analise de Componentes Principais - PCA). As seis campanhas realizadas mostraram que quatro dos oito pontos estudados, em dia chuvoso, obtiveram qualidade da agua classificada como Aceitavel devido aos altos valores na concentracao de coliformes fecais e/ou turbidez. Os demais pontos no decorrer do estudo se classificaram como agua de Qualidade Boa. Atraves dos resultados obtidos do IQA e da PCA, as areas ocupadas por pastagens e culturas anuais apresentaram queda no IQA apos ocorrencia de precipitacao, devido ao aumento no escoamento superficial, que quando associados a falta de APPs preservadas alteram a qualidade da agua. ABSTRACT The changes occurred in a watershed can be assessed through the monitoring of the water quality. The use and function of the ground exert an outstanding influence on the superficial outflow and sediment transportation and on riverbeds may change the quality and availability of the water. Therewith, it was objectified with this work, verify the influence of the use and function of the ground on the streams Ipuita, Caarapo, Saiju and Sao Domingos, located in the city of Caarapo, MS. To ascertain this influence, environmental management tools were used: the Water Quality Index (WQI) and multivariate statistical analysis (Principal Component Analysis – PCA). The six campaigns realized showed that, four of eight studied points, on a rainy day, got the water quality classified as Acceptable due the high values on the concentration of fecal coliforms and/or turbidity. The other points during the study were classified as Good Quality water. By the results of WQI and PCA, in the areas occupied by pasture and annual cultures, showed a decrease on the WQI after precipitation events, due the increase on the superficial outflow, that when associated to the lack of preserved APAs (Advertisement Professionals Association) change the water quality.
