Resumo

The decline of oil reserves, the increasing in concerns with environmental issues, geopolitical and economic issues underscore the importance of the search for renewable sources for power generation.The use of bio-oil as a fuel is an alternative for clean energy production.The bio-oil has low stability and low calorific value, which needs the use of process improvement as the hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) reactions.The purpose of this study was a prospective study, through the analysis of articles and patents about HDO of bio-oil, aiming to follow the technological development in this sector.It was observed that the number of articles and patents in this area has increased over the years, and the United States was the country with the largest number of publications and patents.Shell Internationale Research Maatschappij, UPO and Neste Oil companies also stood out with the highest number of patents.
