Resumo Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza quanti-qualitativa, exploratoria e descritiva, cujo objetivo foi o de conhecer aspectos do perfil demografico e epidemiologico da tuberculose pulmonar bacilifera, no municipio de Sao Jose, SC, alem dos possiveis desdobramentos no âmbito da saude individual e coletiva. Abordou-se uma amostragem de 42,8% do total de pacientes cadastrados no programa do municipio, cujos criterios de inclusao consideraram os pacientes de ambos os generos, tendo abandonado ou nao o protocolo de tratamento, alem da participacao livre e consentida dos sujeitos. Os resultados apontaram para a necessidade de um trabalho focado em discrepâncias individuais e coletivas sobre a doenca, o conceito de Saude, o SUS e o Programa, sendo que este ultimo se posiciona como uma ponte a ser fortalecida entre o SUS e a adocao de estrategias eficazes para o exito do protocolo terapeutico de tratamento, alem da promocao da saude e prevencao da doenca. Abstract This is a survey of quantitative and qualitative nature, exploratory and descriptive, whose goal was to understand aspects of demographic and epidemiological profile of pulmonary tuberculosis in Sao Jose, SC, and the likely developments in the individual and collective health. It approaches a sample of 42.8% of the total patients enrolled in the program of the municipality, whose inclusion criteria considered patients of both genders, having abandoned or not the treatment protocol, in addition to free participation and consent of the subjects. The results pointed to the need for a work focused on individual and group differences on the disease, the concept of Health, the SUS and the Program, and the latter is positioned as a bridge to be strengthened between the SUS and the adoption of effective strategies for the success of therapeutic treatment protocol, in addition to health promotion and disease prevention.
