ResumoPartindo da constatação de que oito dentre os nove fundadores da Conferência Nacional dos Bispos do Brasil (CNBB) eram nordestinos, o artigo analisa a trajetória deste grupo fundador, compreendido numa dimensão coletiva, a partir de quatro aspectos fundamentais: (1) Formação (sobretudo aquela vivenciada nos Seminários); (2) Conversão (momento crucial na inflexão profética); (3) Pregação (através de seus documentos coletivos e demais escritos); e (4) Ação (junto a grupos da Ação Católica, das Pastorais Sociais ou dos movimentos sociais em geral), dando especial ênfase ao período compreendido entre 1947 e 1964, quando este grupo construiu sua hegemonia não apenas no âmbito do episcopado nacional como também na esfera de segmentos importantes da sociedade brasileira, a exemplo de setores dirigentes do Estado e das organizações populares.Palavras-chave: CNBB. Abstract:Starting from the fact that eight of the nine founders of the National Conference of Brazilian Bishops of Brazil (CNBB) were northeastern, the article analyzes the trajicy of this founding group, understood in a collective dimension, by four fundamental aspects: (1) Formation (particularly that experienced in Seminars), (2) Conversion (crucial moment in prophetic inflection), (3) Preaching (through their collective documents and other writings) and (4) Action (by groups of Catholic Action, social pastorals or social movements in general), giving special emphasis to the period between 1947 and 1964, when this group built its hegemony not only under the national episcopate as well as in the sphere of important segments of brazilian society, the example of the ruling sectors of the state and people's organizations.Key Words: CNBB.
