ResumoThe Urucuia Group (Upper Cretaceous) in the Sao Domingos region, State of Goias, consists of conglomerates, sandstones and siltstones deposited in a desert environment. The studied section is located in the central-east Brazil, west border of the Sanfranciscana Basin. Six architectural elements were characterized according to their lithofacies assemblages, geometry and nature of the lower and upper contacts. These elements are divided in an eolian system (field dune deposits) corresponding to simple dunes (SD) and interdunes (ID); and, in a fluvial-eolian system (sand sheet deposits) including dry sand sheet (DSS), wet sand sheet (WSS), wadis (WD) and flood plain (FP). The lower portion of the section indicates a eolian dry system developed under arid climate. The intercalation of eolian and non-eolian deposits in the upper portion (fluvial-eolian system) suggests a climatic variation with an increase of humidity.
