O presente estudo foi desenvolvido na sub-bacia do Ribeirao Taquarussu Grande, localizada no municipio de Palmas – TO, tendo como objetivo principal identificar e caracterizar quantitativa e qualitativamente os principais problemas ambientais, bem como determinar o grau de influencia das atividades antropicas nesse meio, subsidiado na interpretacao dos atores sociais envolvidos. Foram identificados e analisados 10 (dez) dos principais impactos ambientais por meio de visitas e do metodo da Listagem de Controle ( Check List ) onde se obteve uma listagem descritiva dos problemas do meio fisico, biotico e antropico e, em seguida, os mesmos foram caracterizados qualitativamente para que fosse possivel a descricao dos impactos e a proposicao das medidas mitigadoras e potencializadoras, respectivamente, aos impactos negativos e positivos. Apos a identificacao destes problemas, foram convidados cinco atores sociais no qual a escolha se deu de forma aleatoria considerando a populacao direta ou indiretamente envolvida com a problematica ambiental dos corregos. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que os principais problemas ambientais identificados, de acordo com os atores sociais, foram: o desmatamento da vegetacao riparia, disposicao inadequada de residuos solidos e pratica indiscriminada de queimadas. Em sintese, conclui-se que a area da sub-bacia estudada apresenta problemas ambientais graves, onde os resultados mostram 157 impactos negativos e 7 impactos positivos, sendo necessario a execucao de medidas minimizadoras para esses impactos, sob a responsabilidade dos orgaos ambientais competentes, Prefeitura Municipal de Palmas, RURALTINS, produtores rurais, entidades educacionais e comunidade. Dessa forma, recomenda-se um estudo mais detalhado e a elaboracao de um plano de controle ambiental para esta area. Palavras-chave: caracterizacao ambiental; impactos; grau de importância ABSTRACT Quantification and qualification of environmental problems by social actors of the Ribeirao Taquarussu Grande, Palmas – TO. The present study was developed in the sub-basin of the Ribeirao Taquarussu Grande, located in the local authority of Palmas – and its objective was to identify and characterize quantitative and qualitatively the principal environmental problems, as well as determining the degree of influence of the activities of the men in this environment subsidized in the interpretation of the social actors involved. 10 (ten) of the principal environmental impacts were identified and analyzed through visits the method of the Listing of Control ( Check List ). A descriptive listing of the physical, biotic, and social problems was obtained, and they were characterized qualitatively so that it was possible to describe the impacts and the proposition of the mitigative and potentializing measures of the negative and positive impacts, respectively. After the identification of these problems, five social actors were randomly invited, considering the population directly or indirectly involved with the environmental issue of the streams. The results obtained showed that the principal environmental problems identified, in agreement with the social actors, were: the deforestation of the riparian vegetation along river margins, unsuitable arrangement of solid residues and indiscriminate practice of forest fires. In synthesis, it is ended that the area of the studied sub-basin presents serous environmental problems, where the results show 157 negative impacts and 7 positive impacts. It is necessary that RURALTINS, rural producers, take measures to minimize these impacts under the responsibility of the environmental competent organs, Municipal Town hall of Palms, education entities and community. This way, it is recommended that a more detailed study, with a plan of environmental control for this area, be carried out. Key words: environmental characterization, impacts, degree of importance
