RESUMEN Este texto defiende que la comprensión histórica de las emociones, entendidas como construcciones culturales, es un programa de investigación necesario pero insuficiente. Sin desmerecer la aportación de la historia cultural al estudio histórico de las experiencias emocionales del pasado, este artículo aboga por sobrepasar los límites de la investigación contextual y encarar, siguiendo los programas de investigación desarrollados de manera independiente por Peter N. Stearns y William M. Reddy, la relación entre las emociones y el cambio social. PALABRAS CLAVE : emociones, historia, historia cultural, historia social, emotivos, emocionología ABSTRACT This article argues that the historical understanding of emotions, seen as cultural constructs, is a necessary though limited research program. Without detriment to the contribution that cultural history has made to the historical study of the emotional experiences of the past, this article attempts to go beyond the limits of contextual research and approach the relationship between emotions and social change following the independent research program developed by Peter N.
