In Brazil , there are several specializations for nurses, among them the residence of nursing. This kind of specialization aims at the training in service, having since finality forms nurses able to understand and act in the form articulated in the system of health. The present article is the report of two residents of Federal University of Juiz de Fora. This report has since objective spreads this kind of teaching, to explore his relevant points and still to analyse the repercussions in the scenery of local health. This analysis allowed us to conclude that the Nursing Residency Programs nowadays needs to be improved and to be more widely spread. However, we consider that the training in service, as it is proposed by the residency, is a good qualification method helping the nurses to become able to act with quality in the health care.
