This paper tackles the theme of the correspondence between literature and cinema, dealing with the conditions for the emergence of the movie Lavoura arcaica, by Luiz Fernando Carvalho, from the reading of the homonymic novel, by Raduan Nassar. The conditions for the emergence of the movie are expressive, considering the involvement of Luiz Fernando Carvalho and his group. This paper assumes an interdisciplinary posture, with phenomenological, cinematographic and literary references.Keywords: Lavoura arcaica, Luiz Fernando Carvalho, cinema
