Urban Transport and Accessibility

Quality urban public transportation is a priority issue of the contemporary cities. How reduce the influence from automobiles and provide a shuttle service to passengers with comfort and quality. Urban transportation systems in Brazil’s cities face with poor quality in services like overcrowding, miss infrastructure and many investment problems. In this matter, underground transport system on rails, known as “Metro” has been used for the purpose improving the transport quality. However, this improvement should be measured in terms of system users. So, this paper develops indicators to assess the quality of urban passenger transport and apply in a field survey to assess the services of the transport metropolitan of Sao Paulo’s city. The results show that excellent quality service in past, nowadays are fair and poor between the users of system.
