Literature, Culture, and Criticism

This study investigates the discursive functioning of the Western culture apparatus that preaches heterosexuality as a natural norm, thus excluding a series of subjective possibilities as legitimate positions for the discourse subject. It uses Queer Studies notion of heterosexual matrix and the French School Discourse Analysis notions of subject-form and subject position. The analysis focus on the short story Triunfo dos pelos, by Aretusa Von, first published in 2000.
