Under the Blue Cloak Our Lady of the Rosary: women and gender identity in congada of Catalão -GO.To perform it, we recurred to literature and field searches, applying questionnaires and interviews, supported by the assumptions of oral history and photographic records. The method of research is supported by phenomenology. The discussion about the (in)visibility of black women was built on this research, due to the fact that the Congo is a cultural manifestation of black ethnic origin. The study of slavery in Brazil proposes an approach that reflects on the atrocities of captivity, the problem of the diaspora, the importance of black people in the economy and culture in Brazil. But when it comes to the specific situation of black women in the history of captivity, little has been formulated and, when the theme is approached, the appeal is to the eroticized image of the African female.Even nowadays, black women struggle to free themselves from the secular captivity, since them suffer the prejudice related to gender and ethnicity. They are among the worst rates of income in labor market, they people the unemployment and underemployment statistics in Brazil, and are often victims of physical and psychological violence. Therefore, it is clear that the phenomenon of women (in)visibility.as well as social and intellectual, is also spacial and ethnic, as the poor black woman becomes even more (in)visible to history and society than the white one.
