ResumoThis article intends to explore some questions related to poetry analysis courses offered by Antonio Candido in the Course – and, after that, fi eld – Literary Theory and Compared Literature, with special interest in 3 analysis fronts: a) describing the structure and dynamics of functioning in the course, highlighting the role of poetry-dedicated courses; b) advance in the discussion about the poetry concept defended by Candido, reassessing the tradition matter of his paideuma and his literary preferences; c) put into evidence the symbolic dispute to the modernist legacy which exists between the group around Candido and the concrete poets, by the reading of O tupi e o alaude, by Gilda de Mello e Souza.
