O artigo discute a cultura e o turismo no Carnaval de Caravelas, Extremo Sul da Bahia, como expressao de manifestacoes ja consolidadas pelo cânone carnavalesco do axe e do samba. A juncao destas feicoes promove um carnaval tipicamente diferente de outras localidades da Bahia. Objetiva refletir sobre a interface do Axe, oriundo de Salvador, e do samba, proveniente do Rio de Janeiro, no carnaval caravelense. Palavras-chave: Axe; Carnaval; Patrimonio historico-cultural; Samba; Turismo Abstract: This article suggests the culture and tourism of Caravela's Carnival, in the extreme south of the state of Bahia, as a consolidated expression of the manifestation by carnival's canone of axe and samba. By mixing up these aspects, Caravelas makes a carnival typically different of those from other places of Bahia. Te objective is to reflect about the interface of the axe from Salvador and the samba, from Rio de Janeiro in the Caravela's carnival.
