ResumoRabies virus antigen-specific human monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) that recognized either viral glycoprotein, ribonucleoprotein, or matrix proteins were generated. Only glycoprotein-specific MAb neutralized a variety of rabies viruses and protected laboratory rodents against lethal rabies virus infection. The determinant recognized by this MAb does not appear to reside in previously defined antigenic sites of the viral glycoprotein.
