Roupa nova é a denominação dada para uma indumentária ritual costurada todos os anos para os festejos das tendas de religião afro-brasileira em Codó (Maranhão). O investimento nesta costura fala sobre o tempo atual da religião na cidade e remete a agência de sujeitos e de encantados (como são chamadas as entidades). Antigamente, as roupas não eram importantes, ainda que fosse um tempo de “religião mais forte”. As roupas e acessórios usados nos rituais também questionam narrativas sobre o significado e a origem do terecô, chamando atenção para a beleza e a ação como experiências fundamentais aos “brincantes do tambor”. Time of new clothing: beauty and transformation in the drums at Mata de Codó, Maranhão AbstractNew clothing is the name given to ritualistic clothing sewed up every year to the celebrations of the tents of afro-Brazilian religion at Codó (Maranhão). The investment on this sew talks about the present time of the religion in the city and alludes to the acting of subjects and encantados (as the entities are called). Anciently, the clothes were not important, even if it was a “stronger time of religion”. The clothes and accessories used in the rituals also question stories about the significance and the origin of terecô, paying duly attention to the beauty and the action as fundamental experiences to the “drum players”.
