ResumoIn this paper we present the painted pottery from the second half of the first millennium BCE recovered during the excavations undertaken in the Castle of Castro Marim between 1983-1988 and 2001-2003. Based on the formal, productive and stylistic analysis of these pieces, we discuss also the cultural, economic and politic integration of ancient Baesuris in pre-roman times, and especially its relation – and more broadly that of the Algarve region – with Gadir.
