ResumoThe town of Molde is the administrative center of the county of Møre og Romsdal on the west coast of Norway. Fjords and mountains separate the four local hospitals which provide all psychiatric services. Driving between the hospitals takes about 2 hours. Flying time to Oslo is 50 minutes. Twenty years ago there was no opportunity for patients in this county to have fully qualified psychotherapy. Psychiatrists who wanted to become psychotherapists had to seek training elsewhere, and the psychotherapy supervision integrated in the training of psychiatrists was inadequate. Since then the Institute of Psychotherapy in Oslo has arranged several basic seminars in Molde. The author travelled regularly from Molde to Oslo for personal psychotherapy, supervision and seminars, leading to qualification as a psychotherapy supervisor in 1987. In 1988/90 we had qualifying training for another eight local psychologists and doctors by means of airborne therapists, supervisors and seminar leader. In M0re og Romsdal this has given two full-time psychotherapists, two in part-time private practice and five qualified senior therapists in general psychiatric service in different parts of the county. Trainees in psychiatry can now have the necessary psychotherapy supervision locally. They can also have the necessary supervision for advanced psychotherapy training here.Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, Quality Securance, Supervision, Training.
