ResumoBasel III is the name used to denote the set of changes made by the Basel Committee, which were inserted in the document known as Basel II. The main changes introduced by this agreement were the following: increase in the capital requirements of the banks, introduction of a cushion of capital conservation, introduction of standards of global liquidity and maximum leverage. It is important to notice that Basel III does not constitute a new agreement. It is rather a set of proposed amendments to the previous agreement modifying the measures that have been deemed insucient in controlling the instability of financial markets, and to prevent the occurrence of more serious crisis.
