ResumoAbstract A histochemical method was used to determine copper localization in the endometrial mucosa of intrauterine contraceptive device wearers with 120 mm. 2 of copper (TCu-120). It was determined that copper delivered by the device localized preferentially in the epithelial cell of the endometrium and concentrated in the secretory vacuole of this cell during the progestational phase. During the estrogenic phase, copper was absent from the endometrial mucosa which leads us to the conclusion that its concentration is progesterone dependent. Leukocytic infiltration of the epithelium is not increased in copper device wearers.
