Resumo

Organic melon fertigation using biofertilizer and different concentrations of humic substance The study was carried out in the irrigation district Senator Nilo Coelho, Petrolina, PE, Brazil, to evaluate the effect of fertigation using biofertilizers and different concentrations of humic substance on organic melon crop, from September to November 2005. The experiment was arranged in a factorial scheme in randomized blocks (3 x 3 + 1), being three biofertilzers (Agrobom, Vario and Rumem fermented), and a commercial humic substance in the rates 15, 30 e 50 L ha -1 . A treatment with conventional fertilization was used as control. Commercial yield and fruit quality traits (soluble solids content, total acidity and pH) were evaluated. The conventional fertilizer combined with 30 e 50 L ha -1 of humic substance produced the highest commercial yield. The biofertilzers Vairo and Agrobom provided the highest yield. Biofertilizers and humic substance had no significant effect on fruit chemical traits, such as soluble solids content, total acidity and pH. The organic management affected weight loss and pulp firmness during storage, which was attributed to the humic substance, and the best results were obtained with application of 50 L ha -1 , preventing weight
