Resumo

OverviewVenous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common and life-threatening condition in patients with cancer. 1,2esults from a retrospective study of 66,106 patients hospitalized with adult neutropenic cancer showed that 2.7% to 12.1% of these patients, depending on the type of malignancy, experienced VTE during their first hospitalization. 1These NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines) specifically outline strategies to prevent and treat VTE in adult patients either diagnosed with cancer or for whom cancer is clinically suspected.
