ResumoThe present article identifies the fragmentary Greek inscription Sardis VII.1 no. 201 as a fragment of a hitherto unknown copy of Augustus' Res Gestae. Unpublished correspondence between Sir William Ramsay and William Buckler from the late 1920s suggests that Buckler may already have suspected the identification. The Sardis fragment of the Res Gestae - the first to be recorded outside the province of Galatia - appears to contain a Greek translation of the Latin original which differs from that found in the better-preserved Galatian copies.
