ResumoThe ecological economics model is an open system that analyzes the relationships between the economic and ecologic system. In that sense, it is integral, being that it considers monetary, social and environmental aspects. As for the study of the decline of water availability, this model presents an alternative since it would give account of those aspects related to integrated water management which points to the participation of society as an alternate option. The aim of this paper is to show the relationship between ecological economics and integrated water management, taking into consideration that for both the social aspect is crucial.
