Resumo

The region studied is Reguengos de Monsaraz, near Evora, one of the most important megalithic groups of Portugal. The question under consideration concerns different sequential monuments built in a single burial space, initially built for an orthostatic monument (dolmen, in Portuguese: anta) and after one or more monuments with a false dome (tholos, pl: tholoi), although the position and number of monuments of the second phase is not always the same. The evolution of orthostatic monuments from the middle of the 4th millennium continues, in parallel with the new architectures with schist false domes, typical of the 3rd. The issue was raised in 1951 by Georg and Vera Leisner and resumed now with the discovery and excavation of new monuments like Olival da Pega 2 and Cebolinhos 2. With the changes within the architectural scope we have also important modifications in the magico-religious subsystem and symbolics. The image of an ancient Goddess is rewritten and we see the emergence of a new figure, the Young God.
