Tópico(s)Medical Imaging Techniques and Applications
ResumoMedical imaging is the application of nonsurgical techniques to produce images of internal organs and tissues. Imaging has become an indispensable tool for the medical community. An image is a matrix of picture elements (pixels) representing the magnitude of the imaged quantity in a given location. The many technologies applied to produce medical images take advantage of the basic imaging principles of absorption, emission, and reflection of energy by tissues. Medicine is becoming ever more computerized and this is especially true in imaging. This article focuses on the principal imaging modalities: endoscopy, x‐ray imaging, computerized tomography, ultrasound imaging, magnetic resonance imaging, and nuclear medicine imaging. Theory, equipment, safety, and application for these principal techniques are given.
