Resumo

SummaryAlterations in thyroid function during normal pregnancy were investigated in this study. Serial blood samples were taken from 40 healthy women throughout their pregnancies and a further specimen was obtained 6 weeks after delivery (17 cases). The following assays were performed: free and total T, and T4, rT3, TSH and thyroid binding globulin. Changes in these are discussed with reference to interpretation of biochemical tests of thyroid function in pregnancy.
