ResumoSummaryTwo years' field study of foraging and brood rearing in the Indian honeybee Apis cerana indica showed that the proportion of bees in a colony that foraged for pollen, the pollen stores in the hive, and the amount of brood reared, followed a similar seasonal pattern. The proportion of flying bees collecting pollen showed greater seasonal variations than the proportion collecting nectar, and than the proportion that collected water (or nothing).
