Resumo

In 1990 a singular grave was discovered on the site of "Parc du Château " at Auneau (Eure-et-Loir), hitherto known for its remains of the Chassey Culture. The deceased had been buried in the sitting position in a large pit infilled with stones. With the stratigraphy indicating a phase predating the Middle Neolithic, and in the absence of diagnostic grave-goods, it is carbon-14 dating which allows this grave to be ascribed to the Middle Mesolithic. Following a detailed description of the grave, excavated according to the methodology of field anthropology, comparisons are made within the context of the Mesolithic in western Europe.
