Resumo

A novel sulfated glycosaminoglycan containing equimolar amounts of galactose, N-acetylgalactosamine and sulfate was isolated from Lingula unguis. The carbohydrate chains in this sulfated glycosaminoglycan were linked to the peptide portion through the O-glycosyl bond between only threonine and N-acetylgalactosamine. The name lingulan sulfate is proposed for this new glycosaminoglycan.
