Quantitative analysis of barbiturates by thin-layer chromatography A number of barbiturates were determined quantitatively by the reflection method on a silica gel plate following conversion into their Na, K, or Ba salts. By the formation of salts the sensitivity and accuracy of the determination are increased, so that the reproducibility, under conditions of standardized working procedures, is good. Since the method is so simple and rapid, it is particularly suitable for the quantitative measurement of barbiturates in pharmaceutical preparations. It can also be well reproduced, with a maximum relative standard deviation of 1%, as several examples have demonstrated. Eine Reihe von Barbituraten wurden nach Überführung in ihre Na-, K- oder Ba-Salze quantitativ auf der Kieselgelplatte nach der Reflexionsmethode bestimmt. Durch die Salzbildung wird die Empfindlichkeit und die Genauigkeit der Bestimmung erhöht, so dass bei Normieuring der Arbeitsvorgänge eine gute Reproduzierbarkeit gegeben ist. Durch ihre Einfachheit und Schnelligkeit ist diese Methode zur quantitativen Barbituratbestimmung in pharmazeutischen Präparaten besonders geeignet und lässt sich mit einer maximalen relativen Standardabweichung von 1% gut reproduzieren, was durch einige Beispiele bewiesen wurde.
