Abstract Recent remakes of The Stepford Wives and Bewitched demonstrate the pattern of a "new backlash" in popular culture. Such texts do not vilify feminism as did an earlier generation but rather try to make the concerns of feminism seem comedic by positing that we live in a postfeminist gender utopia.
