ResumoOxidation of [(πC5H5Fe(CO)2]2 by molecular oxygen in acetone and aqueous fluoroboric acid followed by reaction with anionic or neutral ligands provides a convenient route to complexes of the type (πC5H5)Fe(CO)2X and (πC5H5)Fe (CO)2L+ (X Cl, Br, NCO, CN, NO3, N3, O2CH, O2C2Cl3; L P(C6H5)3, C5H5N, H2NNH2, S(C4H9)2). Spectroscopic evidence indicates that the intermediate in these reactions is the cationic aquo complex, (πC5H5)Fe(CO)2(OH2)+.
