ResumoPrimary erythermalgia is a rare disease characterized by burning pain of the extremities associated with erythrocyanosis and increased temperature of the skin. Methysergide maleate was employed to relieve some of the symptoms. By starting therapy with 8 mg of the drug and gradually reducing the dosage to 2 mg daily, burning pain was suppressed, but numbness and erythrocyanosis remained unchanged. Of the many approaches in the treatment of primary erythermalgia, therapy with methysergide maleate appears to be the most promising one.
