Resumo

The intensity near the focus of a converging wave diffracted by a rectangular aperture is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The theoretical work is based on an extension of the classical analysis of Lommel. The experimental work is carried out using an optical diffractometer, and the positions of the axial minima on either side of the geometrical focus are measured. The results of theory and experiment are compared in various receiving planes near the geometrical focal plane.
