Resumo5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) reduced ethanol intake in laboratory rats. The reduction of ethanol intake was blocked when Ro 4-4602, the decarboxylase inhibitor, was given in combination with the 5-hydroxytryptophan. These observations provide further support for the involvement of brain serotonin in voluntary ethanol drinking by the rat.
