Resumo31P NMR spectra are reported for P4S7 in CS2 solution and in the solid state using magic-angle spinning (MAS). For dissolved P4S7 two triplets with 2J=0.92 Hz are observed. One- and two-dimensional COSY 31P MAS spectra of polycrystalline α-P4S7 show that the C2v symmetry of the free molecule is lost in the crystal lattice and allow determination of the one-bond 31P-31P coupling constant 1J(31P-31P)=232 Hz. The very different relaxation times for the two triplets in the isotropic spectrum as well as the 31P-31P J splitting in the solid-state MAS spectrum are used for the assignment of the 31P resonances.
