Resumoview Abstract Citations (33) References (4) Co-Reads Similar Papers Volume Content Graphics Metrics Export Citation NASA/ADS Expansion of the Optical Remnant of B Cassiopeiae = 3c 10 van den Bergh, Sidney Abstract Intercomparison of four 200-inch plates taken between 1949 and 1970 shows that the filamentary shell of Tycho's supernova has suffered considerable deceleration. The presently observed expansion rate is consistent with a Sedov similarity solution. This result suggests that the expanding shell of Tycho's supernova has swept up a mass of interstellar gas that is several times greater than its own mass. Individual filaments exhibit significant changes on a time scale of 10 years.
