A heresia de maior repercussão tanto na Idade Média quanto entre os estudiosos modernos, o catarismo, tem sido longamente examinada do ponto de vista teológico, ideológico e social. Embora muitos desses trabalhos sejam valiosos, eles não dão conta da complexidade histórica do objeto por deixarem de lado uma abordagem ainda hoje considerada menor, a da mitologia. É o que este artigo se propõe a fazer. AbstractThe heresy of major repercussion so much in the Middle Age as between the modern medievalists, the Cathar movement, has been deeply examined of the theological, ideological and social points of view. Although many of these works are valuable, they don’t envisage the historical complexity of the object because they leave today of side an approach considered smaller, the mythological approach. It is what this article intends to do.Key words: Medieval history; Cathar heresy; Mitology.
