ResumoPopular film is an apt vehicle for explicating communication theory. This view assumes that both art and theory reflect communication as practiced in our culture. To demonstrate the potential of film as a teaching aid, one popular film, The Poseidon Adventure, is critically analyzed as reflecting small group theory. The essay specifically emphasizes group identity and leadership as indicative of the film's capacity for use in the classroom. Some other aspects of group interaction which a reader might wish to consider are also suggested.
