Resumo

The concept of cultural sensitivity has been written about extensively in the literature. It has evolved into a caricatured concept that has led to stereotypic overgeneralizations of entire ethnic populations. This article proposes a macrosystem model of viewing ethnic minority families that takes into consideration the sociocultural and spiritual contexts with which most families of color present. Recommendations for graduate school curricula and internship training programs to include substantive culturally responsive training and supervision are made.
