ResumoThe relative Raman scattering intentisities of Li-, Na-, K- and Rb-silicate glasses have been measured. It is found that the intensities of bands at about 1100 cm−1 and 1150 cm−1 increase in the order of Li-Na- K- Rb-silicate glasses. The band at about 950 cm−1 in Na2O·2SiO2 glass has a larger intensity than that in Li2O·2SiO2 glass. On the other hand, Li-, Na-, K- and Rb-silicate glasses have almost the same scattering intensity of a band at about 1050 cm−1. From the viewpoint of Raman scattering intensity, it is concluded that the bands at 1050 cm−1 and 1150 cm−1 cannot be assigned to the simple Siz.sbnd;Oz.sbnd;Siunits or SiO2 units but to the structural units including alkali ions.
