ResumoFour compounds have been isolated from the stems of a desert plant, Solenostemma argel (Del.) Hayne. Pending spectroscopic identification, these compounds have been subjected to a preliminary screen for potential antimicrobial activity against selected organisms of gram-positive and gram-negative types by the serial dilution technique. The negative results of all four compounds against P.aeruginosa were not unexpected and only compound C showed reasonable antibacterial properties against both gram positive and gram-negative organisms.
