ResumoAbstract This work, which is based on a thesis for a graduate degree in history at Copenhagen University, aims at illustrating the social and economic conditions of the Danish peasantry in the late eighteenth century and at assessing the effects of the agrarian reforms in that context. The author has chosen to study a limited region (Odsherred in north-west Zealand) but gives her investigation breadth by systematically comparing conditions on the crown lands, which occupied the greater part of Odsherred, with those on the private estate of Dragsholm (later the barony of Adelersborg).
