ResumoA study of the temperature dependence of the position, shape, and width of the submillimeter cyclotron-resonance absorption line has provided data which have been compared with the predictions of several theoretical models. The data favor the valence-band structure of tellurium as proposed by Weiler. This shows that the Landau levels are not parallel in the ${k}_{z}$ direction. It also shows that the transitions between Landau levels at low temperature occur at the valence-band maximum on the camel back and not at ${k}_{z}=0$. Previous experiments, two other theoretical models, and previous attempts to fit band parameters are reviewed and evaluated.
