ResumoTubular warning bells. Water-soluble, protein-functionalized, single-walled carbon nanotubes (immuno-SWNTs) have been prepared that can recognize and capture pathogenic E. coli cells selectively by antibody–antigen conjugation in a physiological environment, as shown in the scanning electron microscopy image.
